A KENT beach is at the centre of a police investigation today following an alleged sexual assault.

Police were called just after 5am to the incident which is said to have happened on Margate main sands, just off Marine Terrace, at around 1am.

An area of the beach was cordoned off.

Officers are talking to a 23-year-old woman and looking at CCTV footage of the seafront area.
