Police probe death on railway line

Broadstairs station

Police were called to reports of the death of a man on the railway line between two stations today.

It is believed he was struck by a train travelling between the Broadstairs and Dumpton Park stations at 11.08am.

The coroner's officer has been informed, but the man has not been identified.

The train driver was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital at Margate as a precaution, but no passengers on the train were believed to have been hurt.

British Transport Police will be leading the investigation.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were on the scene earlier today, together with ambulance crews.
