A YOUNG girl was injured when she was hit in the face by sweets fired from a pellet gun.

The six-year-old was hit near the eye, and a nine-year-old girl was also struck in the shooting at the Meregate estate, Margate.

A police spokeswoman said: “Fortunately the six-year-old was not badly hurt. We do advise parents not to let their children play with any sort of toys that could fire pellets, ball bearings or even sweets. It is very easy for these sorts of guns to cause serious injury.”

A nine-year-old boy has been spoken to by a police officer in the presence of his parents about the incident that happened between 7.30pm and 8pm on Friday.
