Hannah Coan, 18, died after being hit by a car in Dartford

A popular and loving teenager has died after being hit by a car in Dartford.

Hannah Coan, 18, was on her way from her home to the nearby Circle C shop when she was hit on Heath Street, near the junction with Phoenix Place.

She died last night, having fought for her life at King's College Hospital, in London, for almost a week.

The former Wilmington Academy pupil, pictured left, was running an errand for a friend when she was hit by a silver Mercedes Benz on Friday.

Hannah's mum Sharon, 43, who lives with her partner Marc Colley, said her daughter was a popular girl who would help everyone and anyone.

Speaking from the family home in North Street, Dartford, the mother-of-five said: "We don't know whether she didn't see it or the driver didn't see her.

"The first thing I knew about it was when my other daughter came in and said she'd been knocked down."

The driver of the car stopped and is understood to be helping police with their inquiries.

Kent Police have renewed their appeal for information today.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a dark car, possibly a Vauxhall Vectra or Insignia, who might have been in the area at the time of the collision.
