Sultry and seductive Spanish gipsy Carmen rolls into town for Ramsgate Operatic Society’s November show.

Carmen The Musical can be seen at The Granville Theatre from November 18 to 22 and is certain to delight both established fans and newcomers to Bizet’s classic opera.

His masterpiece has been re-crafted into an exciting new English musical to please enthusiasts of both opera and musical theatre alike.

This production marries great drama with a ravishing score in 19th century Seville.

Central is beguiling gipsy Carmen who, by day, rolls cigars on her naked thighs at the local factory.

At night, she diverts the attention of customsmen for her smuggler friends at the mountain border pass.

Her charismatic power has a profound effect on factory women, townsfolk and soldiers stationed nearby.

Young corporal Don Jose falls under her spell, rejecting his former life, hurting lovely girlfriend Michaela and breaking his mother’s heart.

He becomes obsessed, deserts the army, and follows Carmen and the gipsy smugglers into the hills.

Carmen’s affection shifts to dashing bullfighter Escamillo. Jose’s jealousy erupts into violence and the gipsy tarot predictions come true.
