A popular housing officer with an eye for detail has been nominated for a Pride in Medway award.

Alex Sinclair, who works for Medway's largest landlord mhs homes, has been put forward for a care for the environment award. He was nominated by long-standing tenant David Robertson.

Mr Robertson, 58, has lived in Bryant Street, Chatham, for 15 years.

He said: "In my opinion, nothing is too much trouble for Alex Sinclair. If you ask him about anything or tell him about a problem, he tackles it straight away and the job or problem is always sorted out.

"He has a nickname of Hawkeye around the flats because he has an eye for detail and never seems to miss a trick about what goes on in our community."

Mr Sinclair, 44, from Walderslade, has worked for mhs homes for three years. It is his job to look after the tenants of 500 properties in Chatham.

This involves house inspections, resolving tenant disputes and dealing with anti-social behaviour.

He said: "We work very closely with tenants in Bryant Street. There is a real sense of community in that area.

"I think I speak for all my colleagues when I say the great thing about my job is building a good relationship with tenants. I also enjoy the diversity of the job and the great team spirit we have at mhs homes.

"It is nice to be nominated for a Pride in Medway Award - it shows that we must be doing something right, but it really is a team effort."

Charles Brangwin, head of housing at mhs homes, said: "It's always nice when our residents directly nominate our staff in recognition of service over and above the call of duty."
