Children have enjoyed a busy week celebrating books.

West Minster Primary School had its book week last week, which finished with pupils and staff dressing up as their favourite characters.

Throughout the week there were lots of different events, including a colouring competition where the winner in each class was given a book.

Youngsters also took part in a sponsored read where they were sponsored by friends and family to spend 15 minutes reading quietly during school.

The school also organised a book swap and children could bring in books from home which they have finished reading and swap them with their friends.

Debi Sands, book worker at the school, said: “It has been an excellent week and the children loved it.

“We also had a company come in called Travelling Books and children could buy books from them.”
