Thrills and spills expected at the quad bike and motorcross event in Margate this weekend

The best of British and European quad bike and motor cross action roars back into Margate for high-octane weekend.

On Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, the main sands will be transformed into a race circuit as man and machine battle it out for honours.

It is the fourth time the quad festival has visited the town and race director Tony Nash said: “We are always assured of a great welcome in Thanet and the riders and the teams know that first class facilities and support from the council and the town partnership and spectators will help them get the best from the weekend. We are all looking forward to returning.”

There will be three races for each class each day - including a youth quad competition this year - with the goal being to reach the 'Margate Dash for Cash’ finals on the Sunday.

Tony said: “The action starts at 10am both days but in addition to the fantastic crowd participation the event receives over the weekend when the racing takes place, we have invited the youngsters of the Thanet area to get involved beforehand.

“How this is going to be achieved is by them entering the 'design a crash helmet' competition. Safety is the most important element in any sport and with motorbike and quad bike riding the helmet is very important.”

The judging will be carried out by a representative of the MTP, the QRA and nine times British Quad Champion and reigning Margate Big Sky Beach Cross Champion Paul Winrow.

Prizes for the top three in each class plus the overall winner are a signed Paul Winrow race shirt and photographs with Paul and his championship winning Honda Quad bike.

The design must be themed around Margate and its landmarks/features with a beach race feel.

Prize details are on the www.margatebeachcross.com web site
