The service station on the M2

A GANG of masked men escaped after attempting a ram-raid at the Farthing Corner motorway services area on the M2 at Rainham.

A white F registration 4x4 Suzuki, stolen from the Maidstone area, was used to drive up the steps of the London-bound side of the services.

Front doors and windows were smashed and the internal 'free-standing' cash point machine was attacked.

The offenders did not manage to get access to the cash and the machine was left behind while the raiders made off in a dark coloured old style green G registration Range Rover, along the M2.

The Range Rover had also been stolen from the Maidstone area the night before. All the raiders were wearing dark clothing and balaclava masks.

Anyone who may have seen something, or who may have information in connection with the incident, which happened at about 1.45am on Sunday, is asked to contact Medway Police on 01634 884252 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
