POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a ram raid at a Woolworths store in Gillingham early today.

A dark vehicle was seen to drive into the front door of the shop in Twydall Green at about 2.30am. Closed circuit camera footage showed a man get out of the vehicle and run into the store. Police believe the man broke the glass display of a cabinet and put mobile phones into a black sack, before making off.

The man who broke into the shop was white, about 5ft 7in, slim, wearing a black, hooded top, dark trousers and white trainers. Police officers believe he was working with an accomplice.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to call them on 01634 827055 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
