POLICE in Kent are warning people that throwing snowballs could land them in trouble.

About 75 of the 410 calls made to the Force Control Centre for South East Kent on Wednesday night involved complaints about nusiance snowballs being thrown at cars, houses and other people.

Police are warning parents that there will be consequences if their child causes damage or if anyone gets injured by snowballs containing objects like stones or rocks.

Ch Insp Paul Wilczek stressed: “We are not being killjoys and know that children enjoy having fun in the snow.

"What we are saying is: do it safely, respect others and don’t cause harm or injury, or damage property. Otherwise you will face the consequences.”

“I would add that at the moment my officers are busy dealing with public safety issues caused by the severe weather.

"I am sure most people will agree that they have better things to do than having to issue warnings to youngsters for being reckless with snowballs.”
