Kent's Police and Crime Commissioner Ann Barnes

A long-awaited report into alleged malpractice within Kent Police is finally to be published later today.

Police commissioner Ann Barnes will publish the document, produced by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary at midday.

The report deals with Kent’s crime recording - the saga began in November with the arrest of five detectives, for allegedly manipulating crime statistics.

Mrs Barnes originally promised the report would be made public by the end of January.

It is now more than 130 days since the publication has been overdue.

The report will also be discussed at a public meeting with Kent’s chief constable tomorrow at 10am, at Kent Police headquarters in Maidstone.

Anyone is welcome, but attendance needs to be confirmed with Ali Hammond by calling 07870 999879.
