Staff at the One Stop Store on Shipbourne Road were closing up for the day when two men burst in armed with a knife and an air weapon. One jumped across the counter and demanded cash from the till.

According to police, one member of staff was punched in the face and another was pushed to the ground before the men escaped with cash and bottles of alcohol.

Both robbers are described as white and both were wearing dark-coloured hooded tops and black jogging trousers.

Det Con Brian Smith said: "The staff were very shaken by this incident. The men responsible were shouting loudly and one jumped across the counter, which itself is very disturbing, but the fact that they also had weapons made it worse."

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 01732 379217 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
