Commuters face another nightmare journey tonight after signalling problems at one of London's busiest stations.

Travellers using Southeastern services from Cannon Street to Ramsgate and Broadstairs will now have to catch trains from London Victoria instead.

That is expected to cause frustration and delays to passengers' journeys - but Metro services aren't affected.

It follows long delays for commuters last night and again this morning.

Southeastern services to and from Cannon Street were cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or diverted to London Victoria – and there was a knock-on effect for passengers at London Bridge, one of the key Olympic stations.

Network Rail was alerted to the problem at around 5.20am and warned of possible disruption until 10am as its engineers battled to repair the fault.

Yesterday, some Southeastern passengers reported their journey home to Kent from London took around four hours.

Pictures uploaded to Twitter showed huge crowds outside Cannon Street, where gates had to be temporarily closed.

Earlier in the day, a trespasser on the line suspended high-speed services between Ebbsfleet International and Stratford International.

Meanwhile, a signalling problem at Hildenborough compounded the misery for passengers travelling from Tonbridge and Sevenoaks, with delays of up to 30 minutes.

Network Rail had fixed the problem by 8am, but it recurred five minutes later.
