Ryman League Division 1 South round-up

Faversham Town are two points outside the Ryman League Division 1 South top six after being denied victory at Corinthian Casuals by an injury-time goal.

Damian Abel (pictured) opened the scoring on 24 minutes, only for the hosts to snatch a point in the 91st minute.

Goals in either half ensured Sittingbourne went down 2-0 at home to leaders Met Police and now lie six points off the play-off places having played four games more than the sides they are chasing.

Ramsgate needed an injury-time penalty to snatch a 2-2 draw with Horsham YMCA at Southwood to go 10th.

YMCA took an early lead but Paul Axon drew the hosts level, and after the visitors had taken a 70th minute lead, Warren Schulz earned a point in stoppage time, converting from the spot after Liam Quinn was fouled in the area.

Chatham Town went down 2-1 at home to Whyeleafe despite Aaron Firth giving them the lead after just 19 seconds.

The Chats are now just five points clear of the drop-zone having played more games than all six sides below them after goals seven minutes either side of the break gave Leafe the points.

Whitstable Town secured a vital 1-0 win at home to Merstham which kept them out of the drop-zone on a day when many of the bottom sides picked up points.

The Oystermen were endebted to a wondergoal from Gareth Cornhill in the 93rd minute, the teenager letting fly with a 30-yard free-kick into the corner to secure a first win under new boss Peter Nott and ended a run of four staight draws..
