BROMLEY'S schools have been praised for their success in the latest batch of GCSE results.

Teachers and pupils were praised by London Schools Minister Andrew Adonis for increasing the percentage of five good GCSE passes to just over 70 per cent, an increase of 3.3 per cent on last year.

The amount of students achieving five A* to C grades also increased by 0.6 per cent to 54.8 per cent.

An Orpington school was singled out for special praise after a 'substantial rise' in its provisional GCSE results this year.
