Schools re-open after the snow

Pupils have returned to school with some having been off for two days during the snowy weather.

All schools that were closed on Sheppey and across the borough have re-opened this morning.

Arctic conditions forced three Island schools to take the decision not to open at the beginning of the week.

In Sittingbourne 17 schools were closed on Monday, 11 were closed yesterday (Tuesday).

Although the thaw appears to have set in the borough may be in for another downpour tonight.

A UK Met office spokesman said: "There is a possibility of more snow along the coast and for the Isle of Sheppey on Thursday night and Friday."
