A second person has been arrested after a teenage boy was attacked by a dog.

Liam Monks , 13, was playing football with friends at the Garrison Sports Ground, in Gillingham, when he was leapt on by a Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog that bit a chunk out of his leg.

The Robert Napier School pupil had to have counselling after the incident, which left him unable to sleep and suffering flashbacks.

A 15-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of failing to control a dog in a public place, was released on bail until next Tuesday.

A dog seized at the same time is still in the care of police.

On Friday, police arrested a 43-year-old man, from Gillingham, on suspicion of failing to control a dog in a public place.

He was later released on bail and is due to return to Medway Police Station next Wednesday, February 16.

The dog bit Liam on the back of his leg - with its jaws locking for round 15 seconds - at about 3.40pm on Wednesday, December 29.

Officers are continuing to appeal for information about the incident. If you can help, phone 01634 792644 or CrimeStoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
