Sentence due on pair who shot poacher

TWO men are due to be sentenced in court today over the shooting of a teenage poacher from Meopham which left him confined to a wheelchair for life.

Paul Jeffrey, of Keats Road, Larkfield, who fired the shot that paralysed John Smith, 18, of Beechwood Gardens on April 17, 2006, had admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Jonathan Cannon, then of Oxenhoath Road, Hadlow, was convicted of the charge after a trial.

The pair are to appear at Maidstone Crown Court today.
