A park has been cordoned off by police after a woman reported that she was the victim of a serious sex attack.

Several officers are guarding entrances to Rainham Recreation Ground in Wakeley Road and Scott Avenue, Rainham.

The woman, who is thought to be in her 40s, told police she was attacked in the park at about 10.30pm yesterday.

It is not clear at this point exactly what happened but police say the park will remain closed until forensic officers have carried out a search of the area for clues, which will help them in their investigations.

A spokesman for Medway police said: “An investigation has been launched after a woman has reported to police that she was seriously assaulted in the park."
