Firefighters have spent several hours overnight rescuing a large shire horse from a ditch at a lake near Snodland.

The animal rescue team from Faversham were called to the area off Malling Road just after 5pm.

It took four hours to successfully release the animal with the help of the farmer's hydraulic lift.
