Shopworkers threatened by robbers in raid on Deal jewellers'

Robbers threatened Deal shop staff before escaping with a haul of jewellery.

Three men targeted Simmond's Jewellers, in the High Street, yesterday afternoon.

Kent Police said they stole jewellery from a display cabinet before fleeing.

Officers are are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

Police spokesman Jane Walker said: "Three men walked into the shop at about 4.30pm on Wednesday, threatened staff and stole an amount of jewellery.

"Nobody was hurt - just threatened - which is sufficient to make it a robbery."

They escaped in a silver Peugeot estate car, which was later found abandoned.
