Simon Cook has watched the Indian Premier League from afar and liked what he has seen. So much so in fact that he has put his name forward for possible inclusion in the 2011 auction due to take place early in the New Year.

However, the process could be subject to more delay because of ongoing legal disputes between the Indian Cricket Board and two expelled franchises Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab.

The auction has already been moved once from November to early January and IPL officials are now suggesting it might be delayed until mid-February or even later because of ongoing legal disputes between the BCCI (Indian Cricket Board) and the franchises.

A new franchise, Kochi, will feature for the first time in the fourth year of the IPL which is due to start on April 8.

Cook said: "Jason Ratcliffe (Assistant Chief Executive) and Ian Smith (Legal Director) at the Professional Cricketers’ Association are dealing with it en bloc and emailed every professional asking who would be interested.

"There is a lot of knowledge to be learnt from quality international players from all over the world, playing in one team and a lot of inventions introduced in last year’s IPL were developed and used in our domestic t20 season."
