Gillingham physio Steve Allen has given fans some good news on the injury front with three senior players set to make long-awaited returns in the next reserve match.

Simon King, Garry Richards and Curtis Weston could all feature for the second-string against Wycombe on November 30.

Allen said: "Simon King spends two days a week on the training pitch and the other two working on strengthening and rehab work at the gym with me.

"He tells me he is feeling really good and has suffered no reaction in his foot at all. He is feeling fitter day by day and heart monitors show his fitness levels are improving all the time."

Richards, who has also missed the entire season with a broken bone in his toe, and Weston, who has been sidelined with a thigh injury, are likely be back at the same time, while Weston is set to undergo specialist strength testing at Greenwich University.

Andy Barcham could return to first-team training this week after his ankle injury.

Matt Lawrence’s hamstring strain will also be monitored this week.

Allen said: "I see him every day and he has improved so much. I would say he is in front of the other lads when it comes to a return to playing and I hope he will be able to join in first team training towards the end of this week."

Allen revealed Mark Bentley is waiting for the results of a second scan to determine whether he has suffered a stress fracture in his metatarsal. However, he is likely to return by the end of the month either way, while the club are also awaiting results of a scan on Jack Payne’s stress-fractured foot.

Mark McCammon has been receiving intensive treatment on his Achilles tendon at Lilleshall, while Dean Rance has been earmarked for a Christmas return after fracturing his metatarsal.
