Greenpeace protestors who scaled a chimney stack at the Kingsnorth power station in Medway appeared in court on Friday.

Tim Hewke, 47, of Chegworth Road, Harrietsham, Kevin Drake, 43, of High Street, Chapmanslade, Wiltshire, Ben Stewart, 33, of Alkham Road, Stoke Newington, William Rose, 27, of Laurier Road, Kentish Town, Emily Hall, 33, of Smyrna Road, Kilburn and Huw Williams. 40, of Chesterfield Drive, Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire, all pleaded not guilty to damaging property on October 8 last year.

It is alleged they damaged the 200m high smokestack belonging to E.On when they painted the first word of a slogan "Gordon Bin It" on the side.

All six were released on bail with a condition prohibiting them from going to the Isle of Grain or the Hoo Peninsula.

A date for their trial, which is expected to last five to seven days, was not fixed in court.
