Six quizzed over brothels and money laundering

FOUR women and two men are being questioned by Kent police today following a county-wide operation in connection with money laundering and brothels.

During the operation police officers with search warrants swooped on addresses in the Medway Towns, Maidstone, Faversham, and Wye, near Ashford.

A 52-year-old man was arrested in connection with the allegations of money laundering and living off immoral earnings.

Another 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of money laundering. A woman aged 29 is being questioned on suspicion of controlling prostitution for gain.

Two more women, a 23-year-old and a 27-year-old were arrested in connection with controlling prostitution. A 30-year-old woman has been held over allegations of possession of class A drugs.

It is understood large amounts of money and illegal drugs were recovered in the raids. The group remain in custody at police stations in Chatham and Folkestone.

Police say that so far no one has been charged in connection with the raids.
