Blind and
partially-sighted children could smell paints an art event

A Kent artist has come up with a unique way of helping blind and
partially-sighted children enjoy art - smelly paint.

Wendy Daws, from Rochester, teamed up with a perfumery to
create the substances with a scent.

Fragrance company Givaudan chose Kent Association for the Blind
as its charity of the year.

KAB volunteer Wendy Daws got in touch with them with the idea of
creating the paints to help young people.

Her dream has now become reality, with the pungent
shades proving a great way for children to learn how
to paint and build their confidence.

Wendy, 43, said: "We've got red paint with strawberry
flavouring in it so you get a bigger sense of what it is.

"We've got lemon, lime, chocolate and it's going to bring their
painting alive for them."

The paints were used for the first time by Kent Association
for the Blind at an Adventures with
Paint event for young people at the Nucleus Art Centre,
Chatham.
