Two people have admitted burning a soldier with a lighter after he celebrated his 21st birthday.

Maidstone crown court

The pair - 23-year-old Sherry Marchant and Billy Smith, 22 - pounced on their victim in Lockmeadow car park, Maidstone.

Maidston Crown Court heard how the victim had been out at a nightclub in November 2008 when he met Marchant.

She then lured him to the car park, where he was attacked by two men and a woman.

The victim had cuts to his eyebrow, which needed stitches, and burns to his face, where a lighter had been held against his skin.

Marchant, of Bradbourne Park Road, and Smith of Julians Way - both Sevenoaks - admitted the assault in court.

But they were only arrested when police followed their vehicle driving the wrong way up a one-way street. They spotted their descriptions matched those involved in the attack.

They're due to be sentenced next month.
