Soldier who died at firing range named

THE soldier who died during a routine training exercise at a Kent firing range on Thursday morning has been identified.

A Home Office pathologist has determined that 20-year-old Guardsman Ian Wright was killed by a single gunshot wound to the head at Lydd ranges.

Police were called to the range at around 7am on Thursday.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and are working closely with Army representatives.

Guardsman Wright served with the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards.
