Kent was treated to an amazing light show last night as the skies were illuminated with fantastic storms.

Thunder claps and lightning continued for around half an hour, with the thunder often seeming right overhead.

People took to social media as the dramatic lightning and loud noises kept them awake in the muggy night.

Emma-Lou said: Really don't think I've ever experienced this non-stop lightning before.

"It's been mesmerising... just mental!"

Ross Williams tweeted: "Lightning is so damn cool! Constant thunder and lightning here in Kent :0"

Some even reported hail entering the mix of weather, with many saying they had never seen anything like it.

Lucie Vasselin sent us pictures after hard work in her garden in Singleton, near Ashford, was destroyed.

Lucie said: "We had spent the evening erecting a new gazebo for it to be taken out by a lightning strike within hours.

"The cast iron chimenea, bbq and garden table were all thrown across the garden."

More thunderstorms are expected to develop across Kent overnight and some persisting into Monday morning.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning between 00.01 and 06.00.

This indicates the possibility of damage to property, flooding, travel delays and cancellations and power cuts.
