PROUD MOMENT: The parade headed by the contingent from Kent

ALMOST 400 members of St John Kent attended an annual parade to St Paul's Cathedral in London on Saturday.

The parade was led this year by members from across the county, including 51 adults, cadets and badgers from Maidstone. The procession was led by the St John Isle of Sheppey Band, followed by the Commissioner of St John Kent, Maureen Lewsey, Commander Alan Bourlet and the outgoing president of the St John Council Edwin Boorman.

For Denise Warman, divisional superintendent of St John Maidstone division, it has been 40 years since she last took part in the annual rededication of the Order of St John, while she lived in London.

She said: "It was a really lovely event. It was fantastic." The service at St Paul's was led by The Rev Robert Willis, Dean of Canterbury, and member of St John Kent.

A total of about 800 people from across the country took part in the rededication parade and service.
