CALL centre staff are being asked to consider moving over 200 miles to Yorkshire to save their jobs.

A total of 91 posts are going with the closure of the Barclays plc mortgage servicing contact centre at Crossways Business Park in Greenhithe.

One option workers are being given is transferring to the remaining call centre in Leeds, which is 206.7 miles away.

A Barclays spokesman said: "We realise not a lot of people will want to do this as they would have to uproot their families.

"But there are some people in business who do it and this is one of a number of options being offered to staff."
