POLICE investigating a series of fires in recent weeks in a town centre have charged a 23-year-old man with arson.

Mark Richard Williams, of Boundary Road, Chatham, is due to to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court on Friday (January 20). The fires have occurred in the Chatham High Street area.

A second local man, aged 26, has also been arrested and is on police bail while enquiries continue.
