PART of the Bluewater shopping complex at Greenhithe, near Dartford, was evacuated today following a bomb scare.

Kent Police were called to the shopping centre at around 2pm after a suspect package was reported to staff by a member of the public.

The upper and lower levels of Thames Walk between Marks & Spencer and Boots were cleared and Army bomb disposal experts were called.

A Kent Police spokesman said later: “A controlled explosion was carried out on the package which was found to be harmless.”
