Ebbsfleet moved to within three points of safety after registering a narrow victory at Tamworth.

A goal from Tom Phipp, just before half time, settled the Blue Square Bet Premier match.

Liam Daish’s Fleet had failed to claim a league victory since early September with a run that saw them slide deep into trouble in the division’s relegation places.

But maximum points were bagged on Saturday when Phipp (pictured) - who had struck the bar with just two minutes of the match played - volleyed home just before the interval.

Opportunities to extend the lead fell to Ashley Carew and Neil Barrett but Fleet had to settle for the solitary strike, and held on, with Adam Cunnington coming close late in the game for the hosts.
