Teen punched after refusing cigarette

Police want to speak to this man after a teenager was punched in Maidstone town centre

Detectives want to speak to this man after a teenager was attacked when he refused a cigarette.

The 15-year-old boy was approached by a stranger in Maidstone town centre at the Week Street and Union Street junction.

When he declined the offer of a cigarette, the victim was punched and suffered bruising.

Kent Police has now released this CCTV image of a man they want to speak to who they believe might be able to provide vital information.

The offence is reported to have happened at about 6.40pm on Tuesday, January 10.

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to phone Kent Police on 101, quoting crime reference YY/658/12, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
