Teen stabbed in Westgate-On-Sea station brawl

A teenager was stabbed with a screwdriver after a fight got out of hand at a train station, police revealed today.

Officers said the brawl kicked off at around 4.30pm on Monday at Westgate-On-Sea's coastbound platform.

A 19-year old, from Herne Bay, suffered wounds to his stomach and back.

Paramedics were called and the victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital in Margate.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Detective Sergeant Leigh Marshall, of British Transport Police, said: "We are continuing to conduct local enquiries into the incident to establish a full picture of the circumstances, including looking at what took place before, during and after the incident.

"Following the incident, three men and a woman were reported to have left the scene. We are working to establish their identities as we believe they could hold key information about what took place.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident, or knows the identity of those responsible, is asked to come forward and contact police in confidence."
