A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after his silver Peugeot 106 was involved in a collision.

His car and VW Golf, travelling in the opposite direction, collided on the A259 Dymchurch Road at St Mary’s Bay, near the Warren golf course, at about 6.40pm on Thursday.

The teenager, a local man, was taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital and later transferred to a London hospital where his condition is said to be "critical".

The driver of the VW, a 51-year-old woman, was taken to the William Harvey Hospital with fractures which are not thought to be life threatening.
