Teenage girl dies after car hits tree

A TEENAGE girl was killed in a car crash on Sunday which seriously injured her boyfriend.

The 16-year-old from Ashford died at the scene after their yellow Citroen Saxo hit a tree and overturned on the A28, just past the junction with Bull Lane, near Bethersden, at 7.30pm.

The 21-year-old driver, who is from High Halden, suffered a broken leg and was taken to the William Harvey Hospital, where he had surgery.

The road was closed for more than two hours following the accident.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone who may have seen the car before the accident happened should contact the wintess appeal line on 01622 798538.
