Gala bingo, Maidstone

A pair of teenagers, dressed in camouflage gear and carrying a rope were arrested after their laughable attempt to break into a bingo hall left them trapped.

The 16-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy claimed they just wanted to take some photographs when they were caught trying to get into the Gala Bingo hall in Maidstone, on Sunday, October 11.

They first tried to get in by kicking in a door, before giving up and taking to the roof.

Passers-by and people queueing for the bingo spotted them jumping from roof to roof and called the fire brigade after the boy got stuck down a 14-foot gap between the buildings and the girl behind a locked gate.

On reaching the ground, they were arrested and cautioned for criminal damage.

Inspector Susie Harper comments: “I am pleased we could bring a swift resolution to the incident so that the community Bingo could go on. I would like to thank the fire brigade for their assistance in rescuing the pair from the rooftops in what was an incredibly irresponsible and dangerous stunt, that could have ended tragically.”
