A DYMCHURCH man and his dog were rescued by Dover lifeboat crew after he sent a text message to his wife saying he was trapped between Dover and St Margaret's.

Tim Shepherd and his dog Spitfire were walking along the foreshore when the animal became lame, and he was unable to get back to St Margaret's before the tide came up and cut them off.

Mr Shepherd sent a text message to his wife who alerted the Coastguard. Dover lifeboat was launched, with cox'n Dave Pascall at the helm, and they found Mr Shepherd and his dog on the rocks near St Margaret's.

The inflatable rescue boat was sent in to pick them up and take them to St Margaret's.

Mr Shepherd expressed his thanks to the Coastguard and the lifeboat for their help.
