The show will go on...after temporary power blip

Steam engines at last year's show

Kent County Show got under way this morning despite being hit by a temporary power failure.

Visitors were already pouring into the showground at Detling when the main generator failed at 9am, leaving all traders without power for just over 10 minutes.

Over the next three days thousands are expected to descend on the showground for the biggest outdoor event in Kent.

They will enjoy livestock shows and countryside pursuits; including fly-fishing, ferret racing, birds of prey, hounds and working Gun Dogs.

The forestry section will feature traditional and modern timber skills, while an agricultural zone called ’Why Farming Matters’ will focus on the importance of farming in Kent.
