Theft turned biker's life 'upside-down'

A father has offered up a £250 reward to help catch thieves who stole and burnt out his teenage son's motorbike.

Justin Kennard of Bodsham Crescent, Bearsted, has vowed to reward anyone who comes forward with information that leads to the arrest and successful conviction of the thieves who stole his son Marcel's bike.

The blue Yamaha DT125, with the registration V428 NVX, was taken from outside the Yummy restaurant in Cavendish Way, Bearsted at about 9.15pm on Tuesday, June 10.

It was found burnt out in Mote Park the next Sunday.

Mr Kennard said: "I am offering the reward as I feel very upset for my son. He bought the bike with Christmas and birthday money which he had saved up, and the proceeds from the sale of his moped, all in all £1,000. He had only had the bike eight weeks and could only afford third party only insurance, therefore all this money has gone down the drain – due to a couple of joyriders and a meaningless criminal act, his life has temporarily been turned upside down."

If you have any information call police on 01622 690055 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
