Thieves ram-raid clubhouse and steal safes

A golf course clubhouse has been left with a gaping hole in it after burglars ram-raided it to steal two safes.

A 4x4 vehicle, stolen from Eynsford, was reversed into the front of Pedham Place Golf Centre, Swanley, in the early hours of Monday.

Thieves loaded the safes onto a trailer towed by another 4x4, also stolen a short time earlier in Farningham, between 1.30am and 2am.

Police arrived in time to catch up with the vehicle carrying the safes near the golf course, when the occupants abandoned it.

Detectives would not revealed how much money was in the safes, which are now being forensically examined.

Anyone with any information is urged to phone police on 01732 379 217 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

• Three local men arrested in Swanley in connection with the incident have been released on bail while inquiries continue.
