A MAN was said to have threatened to kill police during a disturbance in a Kent town yesterday.

Officers were called to a house in Alexandra Road, Chatham, at about 6pm and were at the scene for more than an hour.

Neighbours had called 999 after a man was heard shouting at people in the street while brandishing a knife.

When officers arrived, the man dropped the knife then picked up a hammer and allegedly started making threats to kill.
