Record breaking attempt at dancing to Michael Jackson's Thriller

Halloween came early to the Island when more than 100 zombies smashed a world record on Saturday.

Dancers from Minster College, West Minster Primary School and Body and Sole Dance Academy took part in a simultaneous performance of Michael Jackson’s classic hit Thriller.

There were 72 officially registered Thrill the World events taking place across the globe and out of a total of 4,177 zombies, 101 were from Sheppey.

Hundreds of spectators came to watch the event at Minster College. So far £191.20 has been raised for charities Crisis at Christmas and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, and once all pupils’ money is collected it is hoped the total could reach £500.

The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Swale, Cllrs Rick and Kay Barnicott, and Cllr John Morris (Con), Swale council’s executive member for community services, verified the number of dancers.
