Some of the world's top paralympic athletes will try out the challenging road cycling course at Brands Hatch for the first time later today.

The Kent circuit is hosting a training session for around 150 sportsmen and women, 11 weeks before they compete for real.

Some of the ParalympicsGB squad will be in action today, as they test themselves against athletes from all over the world.

Brands Hatch, in West Kingsdown, is Kent's only Games venue.

More than 200 athletes from around 40 countries will compete on bicycles, tricycles, tandems and hand cycles this summer, racing around an 8km loop which takes in both the track and surrounding roads.

In total, 32 medal events are taking place between Wednesday, September 5, and Saturday, September 8.

Roads around the circuit will be closed between 10am and 8pm for today's event.

Closures include the A20, which will be shut at Gorse Hill from north of Scratchers Lane to just south of the circuit entrance.
