International waterskiers will be heading to Ramsgate this weekend to compete in the European Water Ski Racing Championships.

Held at the town’s marina, the event will take place from Saturday to Saturday, July 12, with four days of racing planned during the week.

The opening ceremony will feature around 70 competitors and their boats parading down the Royal Parade to the harbour at 4pm. Racing will take place on each of the first three days between 11am and 4.30pm, with racing on the final day from 10am to 3.45pm followed by a firework display over the harbour at 10.30pm.

The European Water Ski Racing Championships are designed to establish the best skiers in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Competitors are expected to come from Britain, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Germany, France and Austria.
