Canterbury has made it on to the list of the UK’s top destinations.

The TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice awards has listed Canterbury at 14, ahead of Manchester, St Ives in Cornwall and Cardiff.

London was at the top followed by Edinburgh and Bath.

The winners are based on the experiences of millions of travellers from around the world.

TripAdvisor spokesman Emma O’Boyle said: "These awards honour the world’s best destinations as decided by those judges that really matter - travellers themselves.

"Famous for its history and architecture, namely the Cathedral, Canterbury has a great deal to offer tourists and it’s wonderful to see it recognised among the UK’s best destinations."
