Southeastern

Southeastern has told long-suffering passengers it is taking major steps to keep its trains running in the event of snow.

In a statement issued today, the train operator said it hoped to run a normal timetable service.

Last night, a spoof carol concert was held at London's Charing Cross station so commuters could let off steam about Southeastern's service.

The statement said: "Southeastern has been advised by Network Rail, who has responsibility for keeping the track clear of ice and snow, that we can run our normal timetable service.

"The weather is forecast to be very cold overnight with a heavy frost and potential snow showers.

"Network Rail will have de-icing trains out overnight and we will be running 'ghost' trains on their behalf to endeavour to prevent the formation of ice on the tracks.

"Despite all these efforts, there may be some disruption as a result of the weather in the early hours of the morning."
